CROYDON BERLESQUE lost art.

Yes that’s right for 4 years now the black sheep bar Croydon, has been running a burlesque extravaganza, named the tease rooms! Organised by Sharon turner, these nights bring Britten’s lost art form to life, with a mix of old time burlesque, music hall charm and a punch of modern pizazz, south Croydon comes alive with regular performances by some of the best names in the business  with special guest's, this is a night you will remember. All ways a favourite for me after covering this event for the last two years is the wonderful Mr Meredith with his own style of witty sas, Mr Meredith a real show stealer, he whips up the crowd into  a tangle of expectation of what is next to come! The coaster ride of puns contemporary takes on modern themes always brings the house down, to see an artist of his calibre in a small club in south Croydon for peanuts is amazing.
Then there is The divine Ms Em who fills your boil with suga’ every time, oozing sexy charm, regularly  engaging with the audience Ms Em is that kinda naughty woman who tickles you just in the right spot then..... Eats you ALIVE!! When Ms Em sings she holds the audience in her hand, stroking them softly then injects a saucy blend of British burlesque into their veins. Ms Em will rock your socks off!!!energy infuses onlookers, all woman aura is like a dynamo fully charged electrifying the crowd, thrusting her sexuality down into your pants, grabbing you by the balls and yelling this is how it’s done baby. Well timed with style and precession.
This year’s Christmas burlesque at the black sheep bar was packed to the rafters with seasons cheer. Filled with expectation the audience gathered, unaware of the festive feast to come. Glistering with rouge & tweed, that cam-fur smell popping the air, always reminding me of a 50’s noire.  Fresh cupcakes! Candlelit tables the scene set. One gentleman stood out with his Crombie Panama hat and spats, looking the part, a reference to the past that is never wasted.
The Bill with  The Divine Miss Em as compere, performances from; October Rush, Miss Brusied Violet, Electra, Gin Atomic, Dark Teaser, Dave The Were Bear with DJ Makkam playing Rock n Roll & Tony X playing classic rock.
Miss Brusie wowing the audience with her swirling hypnotic twists and poses, always displaying the most wonderful outfits, Dave the were bear captivated us all when he sang, so beautiful, we collectively  sighed and swooned. The acts just kept coming woven together by the divine Ms Em, who at twice that evening enlisted an egger young gentleman from the audience to help her entertain. To extract joy and laughter in such a way from an audience is truly a gift; the tease room is a diamond, a taste of Croydon nightlife to enjoy.
